The Research Unit on the Economics of Excisable Products (REEP) (formerly the Economics of Tobacco Control Project (ETCP)), based at the University of Cape Town (UCT), was nominated by the South Africa National Department of Health to establish a Knowledge Hub on behalf of the World Health Organization (WHO) Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) Secretariat. Establishing the Knowledge Hub illustrates South Africa’s support of the WHO’s FCTC, and leadership on tobacco taxation.
