On 27-28 June 2018, representatives of the FCTC Secretariat Dr. Tibor Szilagyi and Mr. Andrii Skipalskyi visited Helsinki. The primary goal of the visit was to meet with the staff of the Knowledge Hub on Surveillance, which is hosted by the THL Institute, and discuss the achievements and progress, look at the current state of the play, and specify and adjust actions for the future. In addition to Dr. Antero Heloma and Mr. Dmitry Titkov (both from THL and staff of the Knowledge Hub) the meeting was attended by relevant experts – Dr. Pekka Puska (Member of Parliament and former Director General of THL), Dr. Kari Paaso (Harms Prevention Team Leader at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health of Finland), and Dr. Pekka Hakkarainen (Head of the Alcohol, Drugs and Addictions Unit at THL). The meeting brainstormed new ideas for future activity of the Knowledge Hub, outlined the ways and resources for their implementation, and agreed the timetable. The Convention Secretariat shared valuable proposals regarding the structure and content of the Knowledge Hub’s website, too.
