The WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean and the Global Center for Good Governance in Tobacco Control seek to raise awareness of important tactics the tobacco industry repeats in multiple jurisdictions to interfere with tobacco control. Each of the eight factsheets included in this package covers a key tactic the tobacco industry uses – whether selling its new products or traditional cigarettes – to violate different Articles of the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control, and create barriers to life-saving tobacco control measures.The package includes factsheets on: indicators of tobacco industry interference; tobacco industry transition to new products; decades of deception and duplicity; tobacco industry tactics (general); and tobacco industry tactics in regard to tax policies, packaging and labelling, advertising, promotion and sponsorship, and smoke-free environments.
